For several years, the Central Appraisal District has increased property valuations in an attempt to achieve fair market value across the board. I have been, and continue to be, working tirelessly with my fellow representatives to achieve a tax rate minimizing the impact on property owners’ taxes. The City of El Paso is one of five entities that have a bearing on your taxes.
I have supported budget actions that do not result in new taxes. I have remained steadfast in not issuing certificates of obligation which are non-voter approved and impact the amount of taxes you pay. I have worked continuously to eliminate use of Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones which divert resources away from the general fund.
