The national Neighborhoods USA conference held May 2023 in downtown El Paso was a big success with over 600 attendees (100 El Pasoans), including local and national neighborhood and community leaders, elected officials, local government practitioners, neighborhood-services related professionals, and children/youth. It included guest speakers, educational workshops, break-out sessions, exhibits, awards, and tours of the city. The purpose was to strengthen neighborhoods and organizers also showcased El Paso’s own neighborhoods and what they’ve accomplished over the years. I was honored to be asked to give visitors a tour of northeast El Paso including the Transmountain area, Regional Communications Center, and Old Glory Memorial.
